Public Charge

A U.S. district court in New York has issued a nationwide preliminary injunction that stops the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s new restrictive “public charge” regulations from going into effect. This is a victory for immigrant families. The legal fight will continue, but, for now, the rules applying to the public charge determination within the United States have not changed. 

This racially-motivated “wealth test” rigs the rules against immigrants and their families who are on the pathway to a green card.
